What is recorded here

Detached four-bay single-storey thatched cottage, built c. 1840, now derelict. Lean-to shed to east elevation, detached single-storey building to west. Pitched thatched roof, single off-set smooth-rendered chimneystack. Lime-washed walls. Square-headed window openings, painted six-over-six timber sash windows, single timber casement window c. 1970 to west end. Square-headed door opening, painted vertically-sheeted timber door. All openings to south elevation blocked up. Set back from road.
This vernacular cottage, although abandoned, remains almost totally intact. These buildings are rapidly disappearing from the Irish countryside with which they were once synonymous.
