Linked to St Mochuda, an early Irish saint associated with several monastic sites in Munster, the well is traditionally believed to have healing properties, particularly for eye ailments. The carved crosses and harp suggest a blend of Christian and possibly pre-Christian symbolism, reflecting the site’s long history of veneration.
