Holy well in Ballyhoura: Jones (1910, 55) recorded a church site and well of St Lachtain on the farm of Mr Corbett in County Cork. The exact spot has slipped from sight, but the naming suggests prayer, water and continuity beside an ordinary field. Perhaps the well still holds rainwater beneath grass, waiting for someone to remember why it was kept.
