Freestanding cast-iron water pump, c.1840, no longer in use. Moulded base with fluted shaft. Moulded band to necking. Fluted cap with ball finial. Knob-ended lever handle. Pump on footpath in street.
This cast-iron water pump makes an interesting contribution to the streetscape. Artistic detailing such as the deep fluted casting enliven this once functional object.
