Cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870, comprising cylindrical shaft with raised horizontal banding, fluted upper section and cap with pointed finial, spout and cow's tail pumping arm.
This water pump exhibits artistic detailing in its design, with its elegantly-curved handle and fluted neck, cap and spout. It is a notable feature on the roadside in Dromod. Water pumps played an important social and functional role in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, by a providing communal water source.
