Hearth in Ráth Chairn

Archaeological testing (07E0920) recorded a small burnt pit or hearth (diam. 0.85m; D 8cm) with a single fill rich in charcoal and burnt stone that produced a C14 date of 1770-1610 cal. BC. Just to the E was a contemporary gully (L 11m NE-SW; Wth 0.3-0.9m; max. D 0.14m). Two pieces of flint were recovered in the topsoil, and a section of two medieval field drains were also encountered.
