Grafve Yard

Situated on a slight rise on the N bank of a WNW-ESE stream, which is c. 40m to the S. This is an early monastic site founded by a St Colman in the 7th century, according to J. O'Donovan, writing c. 1840 (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 1, 245–66). The church (WX014-010001-) with a bullaun stone (WX014-010006-) in the doorway is within an oval graveyard (dims. c. 100m E-W; c. 55m N-S) defined by an earthen bank. The graveyard with a Church of Ireland church is surrounded by an ecclesiastical enclosure (WX014-010004-). St Colman's Well (WX014-010002-) is c. 150m to the SE. Ballindaggan burial ground (WX014-012----) is on the other side of the stream c. 100m to the S. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload; 26 April, 2012
