What is recorded here
Gateway, erected c.1900, consisting of square-profile decorative cast-iron gate piers with shamrock motif, domed capitals and acorn finials. Flanked by cast-iron double-leaf entrance gates with pedestrian gate and cast-iron railings on red brick plinths curving to outer square-profile piers to west. Located at roadside.
This monumental entrance exhibits ornate detailing and fine craftsmanship, and formed a grand entrance to a now demolished house. The shamrock motif exhibits the growing nationalism which was sometimes expressed in contemporary art and architecture.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
