Detached garden plot, c.1830, with section of rubble stone boundary wall to north-east having cut-stone memorial stone and decorative cast-iron open work piers with cast-iron double gates having finials.
This garden is of social and historical significance, having associations with the 1798 Rebellion in County Kildare – the memorial stone commemorates a local rebel priest hanged for his role in the Insurrection. The garden was originally a detached garden plot belonging to the house located on the opposite side of the road (11816020/KD-26-16-20), but is now apparently in communal use as a park. The boundary wall is of interest, representing a traditional style of wall construction that is becoming increasingly rare in the locality. The gate piers and double gates are also of considerable significance, being a good example of early surviving decorative cast-iron work, and their presence has an attractive, if subtle, effect on the streetscape of Moore Street.
