What is recorded here

Gallán is a broken standing stone in County Cork pasture, reduced from two metres to one and a quarter metres, its top snapped off and lost. It leans slightly on a northeast-facing slope, subrectangular and plain, invisible on old maps yet still marking the land. The missing upper half may have fallen during storms or been taken for wall building, but the base remains firm. A person could have stood beside it, looked along its northwest-southeast axis, and known exactly where they were without naming the place.

Not shown on 1842 and 1903 OS 6-inch maps. In pasture, on NE-facing slope. Stone (H 1.25m; 0.9m x 0.6m) is subrectangular in plan, long axis NW-SE. Top broken off; originally stood to 2m H.
