Fulacht Fiadh

In rough grazing. Horseshoe-shaped mound of burnt material (13.6m E-W; 9.8m N-S; H 0.3m); opening (Wth 3.3m) faces SW. North side of mound cut by drain. Possibly the fulacht fiadh recorded by Bowman (1934, 469) on J. Murphy's land ..'a drain was made through this, a trough c. 4ft by 3 by c. 1ft. deep was found. It is said that this was made out of one solid piece of oak'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
