Clashykinleen Bridge

Triple-arch road limestone bridge, built c. 1820, over River Owenkeal. Rendered walls having rendered copings to parapets. Render string course to south elevation. Round arches, south elevation having tooled stone voussoirs, and U-cutwaters to both elevations. Coursed rubble construction visible to soffits of arches. Remains of plaque to south parapet.

This slightly hump-backed bridge is a solidly constructed example of a nineteenth-century road bridge. It serves as a reminder of the quality of engineering and local craftsmen's skills in the early nineteenth century. The downstream cutwaters balance the functional upstream cutwaters. The treatment of the elevations, rendered to the north and exposed stone to the south, is interesting.
