Fulacht fia in Rathaneague is a cooking site at the west edge of a ringfort, where burnt stone still marks the place beside the ditch. The heat may have prepared food for people living inside the fort, while the two nearby fulachta fiadh suggest this was a busy kitchen rather than a one-time fire. To imagine hands lifting hot stones into water is not to invent the site, but to remember what the stones were for.

At W side of and cut through by fosse of ringfort (CO054-007001-). Spread of burnt material (Wth 7m) visible for 18m along edge of fosse. Two other fulachta fiadh (CO054-135---; CO054-137---) to SW and SSW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
