Fulacht fia in Gortnalahagh — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

In gently undulating pasture, c. 1.5km to SE of the River Shannon. Not depicted on OS historic mapping. Identified by Tracy Collins in 2006 during test trenching (Ministerial Direction Order A026/170, NRA Reg. E2323) prior to the construction of the Southern Limerick Ring-Road and excavated in the same year by Aidan Harte as part of Gortnalahagh Site 2 (Harte 2011, 4). The remains of this fulacht fiadh (27m x 17.3m; D 0.2m) consisted of a spread of burnt material which and covered five troughs, three of which were conjoined (Harte 2011, 4). Radiocarbon dating of the site confirmed an Early to Middle Bronze Age date. See attached location plan from excavation report.
