Excavated in advance of proposed development (Licence no. 10E0010) the trough (3.25m x 1.64m, 0.45m deep) was oval in plan. The charcoal rich fills contained heat-shattered stone. Charred hazelnut shell was interpreted as a deliberate deposit (Long 2010, 42).
