What is recorded here

Clonard OR Folkstown Great preserves a circular enclosure at the base of an east-sloping hill, still visible only through crop marks beneath ordinary ground. Bronze Age people lived nearby when road works exposed settlement to the west, suggesting the circle marked a boundary, shrine or domestic centre rather than empty field. The enclosure may have measured life itself: where grain grew, where children played, where the hill stopped being distant and became a place known by heart.
A circular enclosure visible as a crop mark on an aerial photograph together with other features that could indicate a possible field system (DU005-102----) (SMR file; pers. comm. T. Condit). Located towards base of a hill that slopes from east downwards where it is bounded by the outer relief road. Excavation (08E053, 08E055) of the outer relief road revealed Bronze Age settlement to the west of the enclosure.
