Hot stones, boiling water, and hungry people: that is what a fulacht fia was before it became a broken circle on a hillslope. In Curraghprevin, one truncated pit still lies beside the River Bride while two others watch from slightly farther south, a small kitchen cluster waiting for hands that left it centuries ago. Perhaps they cooked together, washed together, or marked a boundary with heat and steam. The road and the topsoil tip may pass above them, but the pits remain untouched, holding the shape of domestic life rather than grand ceremony.

A 'truncated' fulacht fia was discovered during archaeological monitoring of an area to be used as a permanent topsoil tip adjacent to the N8 Rathcormac-Fermoy Bypass. It was located on a hillslope, c. 120m N of a tributary of the River Bride and it remains in situ. Two other fulachtaí fia (CO044-103----, CO044-104----) lie c. 110m to the S and c. 170m to the SSW, respectively.
