Fulacht fia in Cloghlucas South

Discovered during construction of Bruff-Mallow gas pipeline (Gowen 1988, 125-6). Extensive horseshoe-shaped spread of burnt material (L 20m), which extended 15m into pipeline corridor from fence line, was revealed during topsoil removal (pers. comm. M. Gowen). Cutting revealed burnt material to a depth of just 0.3m (ibid.). Gowen noted that 'the configuration of the ground outside the corridor suggested that the trough site probably lay some distance beyond the southern limit of the pipeline corridor' (ibid.).
