What is recorded here

On Colt Island, a small island between NW tip of Inis Ní and the mainland. This island is also known locally as Oileán an Fort and according to local tradition a 'fort' once stood here guarding the narrow crossing-point. Destroyed during construction of bridge and causeway in 19th C. It may have been just a bailiff's hut (pers. comm. T. Robinson). No visible surface trace survives.
