What is recorded here
Detached gable-fronted single-bay single-storey forge, dated 1868, now used as a domestic outbuilding. Horseshoe-shaped opening to entrance gable with rock-faced voussoirs, with date plaque above. Two bays to side elevations. Pitched slate roof with modern chimneystack and barge boards.
Forges of this type, with horseshoe-shaped openings, are found throughout Ireland. Fortunately this former forge has not been greatly altered and retains its original form and some original features and materials.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
