One greenstone font stands in the Kilsaran graveyard, moved from a lost thatched chapel at Greenmount. Its octagonal rim and circular basin still hold the shape of baptisms performed centuries before the chapel disappeared. The stone crossed fields to join the living church, carrying water and memory into a new address.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 31 May 2012 Two fonts of greenstone, said to be from a thatched chapel that formerly stood at Greenmount, were removed to the graveyard at St Mary's R.C.church, Kilsaran. One has a sub-rectangular base which splays gradually towards an octagonal rim with chamfered angles. The basin is circular and tapers down to a rounded bottom (H 0.40m, rim diam. 0.43 by 0.4m, W of rim 0.45m, D of basin 0.16m). (For other see LH015-011002-).
