What is recorded here

Freestanding cast-iron petrol pump, installed c.1940, having plastic Shell logo to top. Exposed glass cylinders over pump mechanism to interior, raised Shell motif to base and rubber pumping hose. Missing front panel. Located to roadside.
Located on the roadside at Toon's Bride, items of such street furniture have become rare across Ireland. This pump is a rare survivor from the early days of motoring. Set close to the road, it remains an eye-catching feature.
