Situated on the low-lying ground of the estuary of the meandering NW-SE River Glyde, which is c. 265m to the NE and the SW-NE River Dee, which joins it from the S c. 400m to the E. The D-shaped enclosure (LH015-047001-) is within an system of irregular fields (max. dims c. 70m x c. 70m) defined by single fosse or drain features but the enclosure is not directly connected with them. The fields cover an area of c. 20 acres (c. 8ha) and might be no more than an attempt to drain the land. It was first identified by Ivor Kenny.
