Field boundary in Mangerton

In rough boggy pasture, on the W-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain, overlooking the valley of the Owbaun River. A linear stretch of relict field wall (T 0.5m; H 0.3m) emerges from the bog and extends for 15m to the N where it disappears into deeper bog. After a distance of 25m, the wall re-emerges and curves to the NE for 30m then turns to the S and SSE for 45m where it disappears into the bog again. The field wall is defined by a scatter of stones which protrude above the surface of the bog. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
