An invisible ringfort sleeps beneath Lisanisk housing, marked only on an 1858 map and hidden inside a modern residential area. People call it a fairy fort because the earth disappeared while the story remained. Children may still run past the buried ridge, unknowledgeable about the ancient shape under their feet.

Located just off the crest of the N-facing slope of a drumlin. A circular earthwork is depicted on a revision of the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map dated 1858. No archaeological feature is visible at ground level in a fallow plot in an area occupied by housing. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
