Fairy fort / ringfort in Kilreesk

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

Kilreesk in County Dublin is not a showpiece but a hidden edge, with only a curving bank remaining where a whole fort may have stood. That much is known; the rest belongs to imagination. It may have been a farmstead, a refuge, a boundary marker or a forgotten neighbourhood. Under the grass and rain, that missing shape still leans against the field like a sentence interrupted.
On inspection in 1989 a section of curving bank thought to be part of an ringfort was identified (pers. comm. Marcus Nolan). Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
