Castlepoles holds a forgotten ringfort on a narrow rocky spur, overlooked by higher ground and hidden from ordinary view. The fort may have served as a watchpost, a refuge or a boundary marker, but its exact purpose has faded. What remains is a place where human life moved quickly through stone, leaving behind a shape rather than a story.

Marked 'Fort' on OS 1836 and 1876 eds. Situated on a small natural spur on the NW slope of a steep rocky hill. Overlooked by higher ground to the E, S and SW. Not visible at ground level.
