What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Skeanavart is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Skeanavart, County Roscommon, Ireland. A D-shaped earthen bank measured about 40 metres northwest-southeast and 20 metres northeast-southwest on the northeast-facing slope of a broad plateau. The road cut through its northeast edge, and the earthwork has since vanished beneath the pasture.
Marked only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a D-shaped feature (dims c. 40m NW-SE; c. 20m NE-SW), and situated on the NE-facing slope of a broad plateau and on the SW side of a NW-SE road. Described as an arc of an earthen bank truncated by the road at NE (Gannon 1972). It is no longer visible at ground level in pasture. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
