Fairy fort in Rearour, County Cork: an oval earthen ring, 55 metres by 46.5 metres, with a 1.5-metre outside bank, overlooking the eastern stream valley. Cattle graze where fir trees once stood inside, and the name itself admits the human limit: when the shape resists explanation, people invented fairy rather than leave it empty.

In pasture, overlooking stream valley to E. Oval raised area (c. 55m N-S; 46.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.5m). Interior under pasture; once planted with 'fir trees' (Hartnett 1939, 251). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
