What is recorded here

Knockaphreaghane holds a flat-topped slab resting above at least three support stones on a SW-facing slope near the headwaters of Brinny River. The stone measures 1.9m by 1.3m and is incorporated into a townland boundary fence, suggesting people walked past or leaned against what may have marked a dead person for generations. Two quartzite blocks sit at the west side of the fence to the south, like forgotten witnesses. The place is small, exposed and ordinary-looking, yet it may contain one of the oldest human claims still made on Cork land: that someone here mattered enough to be covered, not forgotten.

Boulder-burial; likely dates to the Neolithic or early Bronze Age. It represents a form of megalithic funerary practice associated with the broader Atlantic seaboard tradition.
