What is recorded here

No visible trace remains of the Fairy fort in Lislea (moydow By.) except a faint subcircular rise about twenty-seven metres across on a gentle SSE-facing slope. Fragmentary earth and stone once formed its bank, while a possible house site lay near the centre. The fort disappeared beneath pasture and time, leaving only a hidden shape that may still breathe beneath the grass.

On a gentle SSE-facing slope in low-lying pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the OS Fair Plan and on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A report in 1976 (SMR file) recorded a raised subcircular area (c. 27m E-W; c. 25m N-S) enclosed by fragmentary remains of a low bank of earth and stone. There was no trace of a fosse and the original entrance was not recognisable. Immediately to the E of the centre of the interior were the remains of a possible house site (LF023-053002-).
