What is recorded here
Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Leitrim (granard By., Ballinalee Ed) occupies level pasture as a thirty-five metre circular platform, still bounded partly by a substantial earth and stone bank and partly by a scarp. The entrance has disappeared from human sight, yet the circle remains clear enough to walk around and imagine inside. What is missing is not the shape but the door, leaving the fort open to memory, story and the lives that may have turned within it.
In level pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 35m) enclosed from SW-N-ENE by a substantial bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.7-4.2m; H 1.2-1.5m) and elsewhere defined by a scarp (H 1.2-1.5m). A report in 1990 (SMR file) recorded a shallow intervening fosse with a low outer bank. These features are no longer visible at ground level. The original entrance is not recognisable.
