What is recorded here

Knocknageeha North held a thirty-metre earthen ring on a north-facing slope, visible on the 1842 survey but levelled in Quarry field around 1870. The loss of its rampart erased a clear boundary between human memory and the fairy tale that replaced it. What the fort resisted, stored or witnessed is no longer written in soil, only in the gap where its circle disappeared.

One of three levelled single-ramparted forts (CO030-071---; CO030-073---) on Miss Victoria Allen's land recorded by Bowman (1934, 277).
