Mortons and others lived inside the fort, not the fairies. The fairies got the credit because the fort still stands while the human evidence has gone. That is all a fairy fort is: a house empty of its people, refusing to explain itself.

Situated on a slight rise of a S and E-facing slope in mixed woodland. This is a circular area (diam. 31m NE-SW; int. diam. 24.3m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5.5-6.5m; int. H 0.4-0.7m; ext. H 1.8-2.2m), and an external fosse (Wth of top 5.2-7m; Wth of base 2m; D 0.6-1.1m) SE-W-NE. There is a slight outer bank (Wth 3m; H 0.2m) SSE-NW and the entrance (Wth 2m) is at SSE.
