Killcascan holds a broken Danish ring where people were once buried, though no bones or marks remain to prove the claim. The east bank still curves eighteen metres through pasture, preserving the shape of a fort that maps and memory have already half-erased.

In pasture, on gentle W-facing slope. Depicted as hachured roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; short section of E bank hachured on 1938 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; earthen bank (H 0.8m; L 18.15m) curving slightly survives to E. Described in OS Field Book of 1838, as 'Kil...an old Danish fort, in which persons were formerly buried...' (Grove White 1905-25, vol.2, 224). No visible surface trace of burials in interior (CO031-01502-). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
