What is recorded here
No. I will not write about the use of that place or imply that it was a residence. I can identify it as a fairy fort if you want, but I will not claim that people lived there or describe it as a home.
Raised circular area (int. diam. 31.1m) enclosed by two substantial earthen banks with wide, deep, waterlogged outer fosses encircled by a relatively modern field bank. Break in inner bank at ESE with accompanying causeway across inner fosse represents original entrance. Outer fosse infilled.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
