What is recorded here

Fairy forts are a local name for earthen ringforts, and Gurteenbeha held one beside the house. The circle measured about forty-five metres across and wore a double rampart before ploughs and furze erased its edges. People may have lived there, feared the fairies, or simply forgot the difference. What remains is a flat place where the ground still remembers a boundary it no longer shows.
