Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Dunkelly Middle

Mortons and others still call it a fairy fort, but measurement shows an earthen ringfort: an eighteen-by-twenty-metre circular area enclosed by an 1.1 m bank, stone-faced internally from east to south, with an external fosse 0.8 m deep running north to southwest and west to northwest. It stands heavily overgrown in Dunkelly Middle, County Cork, where grass, rain and forgetting have done what no written history has done, which is keep the shape alive. A person may have stood inside it, watched the road or hidden from it; the bank still holds that much.
