Fairy fort in Doagh, County Monaghan: a subcircular earthen ring on a drumlin ridge, with two entrance gaps and an overgrown bank. People may have lived there, marked territory, or avoided it because the fairies already did.

Located towards the S end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 47.5m NE-SW; 39.5m NE-SW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank WNW-N (Wth c. 5m; int. H c. 0.5m; ext. H c. 2.5m) and ENE-SW, which is reduced to a scarp (at NE: H 3m) elsewhere, and a slight outer fosse E-SSW. There are entrance gaps at NW (Wth of base 1.5m) and SE (Wth of base 2.2m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
