Bawn in Lisdrumskea

The Kennea and Cashel manors, established in the Planation were assigned to Lord Aubignie in 1611. The land subsequently passed to James Hamilton, and then to Sir Henry Piers, who built a bawn, castle, and town called Pierscourt, now called Shercock. The castle is said to stood on the site of the Roman Catholic church, which was built since 1835 (OS 6-inch map). There is no evidence of the castle or bawn. Date of upload: 15 April, 2016

Sir Henry Piers built the Bawn in Lisdrumskea in the early 17th century as part of his estate developments following the Plantation of Ulster. It is remembered as an example of early colonial architecture and land consolidation in the region.
