Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cutteen South

Situated at the E foothills of the Monavullagh Mountains, at a junction with a gentler E-facing slope. Subcircular scrub-covered area (dims. 45m E-W; 41m N-S) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3-4.5m; int. H 0.5-1m; ext. H 1.7-2m) E-S-W and NW-N, which is reduced to a scarp elsewhere. A berm (Wth 2-3m) separates the bank from a surrounding field wall. The stone-lined entrance (Wth 2.3m) is at E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
