What is recorded here

Two substantial earthen banks and outer fosses enclose a raised circular area about thirty-eight metres across in Coolcanadas. The western and northern ditches remain wide and deep, while a modern earth deposit partially buries the eastern edge. Corresponding breaks in the banks mark the original entrance at the south-east, now hidden beneath overgrown vegetation. The fort still stands as a rath, waiting for someone to walk its causeway and remember what life inside felt like.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 38m) enclosed by two substantial earthen banks with outer fosses. External fosse is wide and deep from W-NW-N, elsewhere remains are slight. A modern deposit of earth has been piled up against the inner face of the outer bank from ENE-W-N giving the impression of a slight berm between this bank and the inner fosse. Corresponding breaks in banks, with causeway across inner fosse at SSE, represents original entrance. Internal area overgrown with vegetation.
