Fairy fort in Cloonteens, County Cork: an earthen ringfort on a hill brow, mapped in 1842 as an oval enclosure and still visible as a low saucer-shaped platform. Bowman measured a larger single-ramparted fort in 1934, suggesting the earthworks changed before modern surveying reached them. The name fairy fort signals local wonder more than proven magic, yet the place still asks whether people, fairies or both shaped the ridge.

In pasture, on brow of hill, with ground sloping down to N and W. Depicted as hachured oval enclosure (c. 30m N-S; c. 20m E-W) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; low, subcircular, saucer-shaped platform (30m N-S; 24m E-W) survives. Described by Bowman (1934, 672) as single-ramparted, oval shaped fort (c. 45m x c. 28m) on John McCarthy's land.
