Fairy fort in Carker Beg, County Cork: a 32-metre earthen ring on a south-facing slope, 170 metres from Newtown Park house. Its grass-covered bank still stands 1.5 metres high, though trees once crowded the inside and stump holes still mark the ground. People may have lived there before forgetting the name, or the fairies may have taken back the house and kept only the shape of it.

In pasture, on S-facing slope, c. 170m to S of Newtown Park house. Circular area (32m N-S; 30.8m E-W) enclosed by grass-covered earthen bank (int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1.5m). External fosse hachured to W on 1906 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps; survives to N and SE as gentle slope down to base of bank. Bank and interior previously planted with trees; stumps remain.
