Barleyhill holds a thirty-metre earthen ring on a narrow ridge, where an inner bank, rounded fosse and outer bank still mark a abandoned human boundary. The wood has swallowed the causeway and softened the entrance, but the shape resists the trees and remains visible when the wind strips the leaves. People may have lived inside that small circle before forgetting it, while later stories turned the same stones into a fairy fort because human memory left the place behind.

Situated on a NNW-SSE ridge with higher ridges in the vicinity, and within a mixed wood. This is a raised circular and overgrown area (diam. c. 30m E-W; 29m N-S) that slopes down to the E and is defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 6-7.6m; int. H 0.5m at SE to 1.6m at NW; ext. H 2-2.9m) separated by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 6-7m; Wth of base 1 to 3m at NW; ext. D 1-1.5m) from an outer bank (Wth of base 3.4-4m; ext. H 1-1.7m) that is best preserved WSW-NNW and morphs into a field bank NNW-SE. There is a slight berm (Wth 3m) between the inner fosse and outer bank E-S. The entrance (Wth of base 1.8m) and slight traces of a causeway are at ENE.
