Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballyverassa

On a gentle SW-facing slope in undulating pastureland. Circular area (diam. c. 33m) delimited in the NE quadrant by a large earthen and gravel bank (Wth 1.4m crest, 4.3m base; int. H 1.45m; ext. H 1.61m), with a steep fall to the exterior and a gradual fall to the interior. The bank is very hard and compact. A road runs NW-SE along the external base of bank in the SE quadrant, the bank has been heightened as a result. The remainder of the ringfort, the S and W quadrants, has been levelled but is still visible as a low scarp with an external dip in the W quadrant which may indicate an external fosse. The surviving bank is very overgrown with a lot of dead wood piled up against the inner face in the NE sector.
