Fairy fort in Ballysovane, County Cork: a 30-metre earthen ring on a gentle east-facing slope, its bank about one metre high and its outer ditch two metres deep on the southwest side. It stands in tillage, not hidden, yet the name suggests people once believed the land itself was alive there. A ringfort is a human making, but the fairy label is a story the area told about it. Both can be true: someone built it, and someone else refused to forget it.

In tillage, on gentle E-facing slope. Circular area (30m E-W) defined by earthen bank (int. H c. 1m) with external fosse (D 2m) SW->NNW; low rise with shallow external depression NNW->SE.
