What is recorded here

Thirty metres of forgotten strength circle the ridge above Ballynona North, holding a small world against the valley below. People built that ring before records began, perhaps to keep out rain, raiders or grief. The soil still remembers the shape of their hands, even when grass has swallowed the edge.

In pasture, atop E-W ridge, overlooking stream valley to S. Heavily overgrown, subcircular area (diam. c. 30m) enclosed by earthen bank (H 0.8m) N->SE; edge SE->SW cut back exposing core; external fosse (D 1.4m) SW->N; counterscarp bank (max. H 0.6m) SW->NNW.
