Man-made underground passage in Sheepwalk

Discovered September 1970. Twohig (1973, 35-6) described single stone-built chamber (L 3.7m; Wth 1.1m; H 1.4m), roughly rectangular in plan and barrel-shaped in section; walls roughly coursed; upper courses corbelled to take roofing slabs. Ventilation shaft or possible original Man-made underground passage entrance in W end wall, now blocked. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
