Fairy forts like this one in Ballynisky mark ancient boundary and memory. The oval bank may have enclosed a home, a shrine or a seasonal gathering place before written records. People likely shaped the earth, tended the gate area and read the slope as a living map of ownership and belief.

In pasture, atop low hillock. Roughly oval area (21m N-S; 31m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.4m) E->W, and by slightly curved earth-and-stone bank (int. H 1.35m; ext. H 1.2m) W->E. Latter is part of E-W field boundary and probably truncates original arc of enclosure. Interior, under pasture, slopes down to SE.
